Fault Detection in Offshore Structures: Influence of Sensor Number, Placement and Quality

نویسندگان

چکیده

Within the Space@Sea project floating offshore islands, designed as an assembly of platforms, are used to create space in environments. Offshore structures exposed harsh environment conditions. High wind speeds, heavy rainfall, ice and wave forces lead highly stressed structures. The platforms at connected by ropes fenders. There exists risk a rope failing which is therefore investigated subsequently. To ensure safety structure, parameters monitored Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). For platform arrangements, large number sensors required for accurate fault diagnosis these ropes, leading high investment costs. This paper presents strategy optimize placement acceleration attached platforms. also demands on due Material deterioration overloading may decayed sensor performance or defects. Maintenance difficult, expensive often not feasible within short time. Therefore, measurement deviations must affect reliable structure detection. influence defect detection examined this study: Types, intensities, number, place occurrence distance between faults varied.

Sensor placement for fault detection and localisation

A general approach is proposed for designing the cheapest sensor network able to detect and locate a set of specified faults. The method is based on the sensitivity of process residuals with respect to faults. A genetic algorithm is used to select the sensors and their locations. Results are shown for two water networks.

Simulation-based Vibration Sensor Placement for Centrifugal Pump Impeller Fault Detection

In this paper, a simulation-based method is proposed for optimal placement of vibration sensors for the purpose of fault detection in a centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is modeled to investigate the effect of vane tip fault on fluid flow patterns numerically. Pressure pulsations are investigated at different locations at the inner surface of the pump before and after the presence of the f...

investigation of single-user and multi-user detection methods in mc-cdma systems and comparison of their performances

Sensor placement for maximum fault isolability

An algorithm is developed for computing which sensors to add to obtain maximum fault detectability and fault isolability. The method is based on only the structural information in a model which means that large and non-linear differentialalgebraic models can be handled in an efficient manner. The approach is exemplified on a model of an industrial valve where the benefits and properties of the ...

A multi-objective optimization approach to optimal sensor placement of irregular LSF structures

In recent years, lightweight steel framed (LSF) structures are designed to resist fire, earthquakes, and storm events. This system has entered the field of construction due to advantages of light members. Based on these advantages, such a system is also used for buildings with special importance. Structural health monitoring (SHM) implements a damage detection and characterization strategy for ...
